A Requiem to Mothers
A Requiem and Ode to Mothers in Shadow

On Mother’s Day, I craft a wreath of raven’s plume and thorn,
Its petals droop like her old shawl, tattered and forlorn,
She cackles through the gloom, “My child, your heart keeps me warm!”
She reigns o’er hearths of ash, her embraces cold yet dear,
Her counsel, cryptic runes—wear black, but chase the moon’s veneer,
Through shadows and her lore, my mother’s ghost, I hold her near.
Beneath a moonless shroud, where shadows softly weep,
Her love endures, eternal, deep within the keep.
Her whispered lullabies, like raven’s cries, resound,
Guarding her brood through nights where darkness is profound.
In a crumbling hall, where ivy clings with might,
She weaves her care, a beacon in the endless night.
Her hands, like specters, mend with tender, ghostly grace,
A gothic queen enthroned within this haunted place.
For mothers and grand dames, now specters in the mist,
I burn a taper’s flame, their whispers softly kissed,
Their shades dance in the fog, a raven’s wing, their guide,
A chalice raised in twilight’s eerie, solemn tide.
This day, we hymn their names, with roses black as sin,
Their laughter haunts the halls, though their tea grows cold within,
On Mother’s Day, we honor their unyielding, shadowed reign,
To all my spectral guards—my soul, my love, you’ll ever claim!
