INTERPRITATIONS

Art rarely tells only one story.

A glance, a flower, an animal in the corner, the direction of a hand, a particular color, an object resting quietly on a table—details that seem insignificant can carry meanings that have survived for centuries.

Interpretations looks beyond the surface of paintings, sculptures, frescoes and other works of art to explore the symbolism, hidden details, historical context and stories contained within them.

Sometimes the artist left clues. Sometimes historians have pieced together an explanation. And sometimes a work has inspired competing interpretations that remain unsettled hundreds of years later.

This is not about deciding what you should see when you look at a work of art.

It is about discovering what you might have missed.

Because sometimes the smallest detail in a masterpiece tells the largest story.
